It isn’t every day that you come across a recipe that only has one ingredient. Well, today is your day. Balsamic reduction is an amazing thing. The concentrated taste of the vinegar brings a sweet tang to any dish. Just a dab will do! This not only works great for dressing a salad, but this thick condiment can be used as a glaze, a healthy spread for sandwiches, or drizzling on grilled vegetables. I encourage you to give this versatile condiment a try.
Ingredients:
1 cup Balsamic Vinegar
- Add the vinegar to a sauce pan and place it on the stove top on medium/high heat. Bring it to a simmer.
- Stirring occasionally, allow to simmer until it as reduced by about half, about 7-10 minutes.
- Turn off heat and allow vinegar to cool. It will thicken more while it returns to room temperature. The vinegar should be thick enough to coat a spoon and pour slowly.
- If you feel it is not thick enough return it to a simmer for another minute or so. If you feel it is too thick add more vinegar to the reduction and place it back on the heat stirring until combined.
