The deep flavor of caramelized onions have become a favorite in our kitchen. Whether you add them as a layer in a lasagna, as a topping on a veggie burger or bake into a quiche. You can never go wrong with these. The rich taste of the onion coupled with the sweetness that results from the low and slow cooking technique will have you making these a few times a month.
- 2 Large Red Onions
- Olive oil
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
- Peel and clean onions.
- Slice onions in half lengthwise and then thinly slice crosswise to form thin half circles.
- Over medium/low heat put about 1 ½ tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet.
- Add onions to skillet and begin to sauté. Stirring occasionally continue to cook onions until they brown. This can take up to 30-35 minutes.
