Description

A delicious and easy meat-free option for your next BBQ. These vegan carrot “hot dogs” taste shockingly like the real thing but a much healthier option that everyone can enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 Medium Carrots (or possibly more, depending on the dish used for marinating.)
  • 1 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 2 tbsp. Soy Sauce (or Liquid Aminos)
  • 1 tbsp. Liquid Smoke
  • 2 Cloves Garlic (crushed)
  • 1 tbsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel carrots making them the desired length and size to fit a hot dog bun. Then, peel and crush the garlic.
  2. In a large pot filled about halfway, bring water to a boil. Place the carrots in the boiling water and cook for 7-8 minutes. Be sure to keep an eye on them because you do not want them to overcook and start to split.
  3. In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients. When the carrots are finished boiling place them into the large bowl. Cover and let set for at least four hours (We usually allow them to sit overnight).
  4. Cook on the grill or using a grill pan on the stove top until slightly charred and grill marks are formed.
  5. Serve with caramelized onions or your own favorite condiments. We recommend leafy greens, radishes for a crunch, cilantro, and of course a little hot sauce but traditional hot dog condiments taste great too.
  6. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
