Description

An easy homemade BBQ sauce with a kick! This vegan Spicy Korean BBQ Sauce is made with simple ingredients in about 10 minutes.  It’s great for glazing tofu, tempeh, or seitan, but it is also terrific as a condiment for sandwiches, wraps, or even pizza.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ Cup Ketchup
  • ¼ Cup Hoisin Sauce (Vegan)
  • 1 Tbsp Gochujang Paste
  • 1 ½ Tbsp Rice Wine Vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce (or Liquid Aminos)
  • 1 Tbsp Mirin
  • 3 Cloves Garlic, Crushed
  • 1 Inch Fresh Ginger, Peeled and Grated
  • 1 Scallion, Thinly Sliced
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients as directed above.
  2. In a medium-sized sauce pan, add all ingredients, but reserve the sugar for last.
  3. Over medium-heat, stir constantly until the sauce starts to thicken. Remove from heat when desired consistency is obtained.
  4. Serve with your favorite vegetables or meat substitute. We like to use it as a glaze for tofu or seitan.
  5. Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to a week.
