A Fun and Sophisticated Mocktail

Yes, cocktails are fun but sometimes it’s even better when you can enjoy a fabulous alcohol-free beverage that’s refreshing and good for you too!

This month we have been abstaining from alcohol for dry January which has now become a tradition for us and a great way to feel a little better in the new year. But this year, we found a booze-free drink that has an amazing tangy flavor with just the right amount of zip– a blood orange ginger mocktail!

An Alcohol-Free Adult Beverage

When you are ready to get the party started, don’t just settle for your usual cocktail! Why not serve this lovely ginger-citrus drink instead?! It only requires 4-ingredients and comes together in seconds.

But the best part? Everyone at your party will be able to partake! 😄

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Blood Orange Juice Sweet and colorful, blood orange is one of the most unique citrus fruits you can get– so much fun.
  • Mint –  Refreshing and aromatic, infusing the orange juice with the hint of mint makes this a mocktail and not simply juice and soda.
  • Sugar – Of course a sweetener but also the coarseness of sugar helps to break down the mint as you muddle.
  • Ginger Beer –  Topping this drink off with strong ginger beer adds zesty flavor and will make you want to pour another one!

FAQ & Blood Orange Ginger Mocktail Tips:

  • Can I use ginger ale instead of ginger beer?

    • Yes, absolutely. However, just be aware that ginger beer has a stronger ginger flavor so your drink won’t be quite as zippy. Additionally, you can also muddle some fresh ginger into the drink as well for a stronger flavor, if desired.
  • Can I substitute regular orange juice for the blood orange?

    • Yep! If you can’t get your hands on blood oranges, feel free to juice a navel orange or even use store bought juice instead.
  • Don’t forget to strain your mocktail for easier sipping

    • After you muddle the fresh mint and sugar with the blood orange juice, use a small fine-mesh strainer to remove the smashed leaves. This will ensure that your mocktail has incredible flavor without the mess.
  • Mix It Up

    • Blood oranges aren’t available? Try mandarin orange, grapefruit, or tangerine juice instead. Of course, navel oranges are also an option too.
    • Not a fan of mint? Use another herb such as basil or cilantro for a unique twist.
    • Prefer a sweeter cocktail? Add some extra sugar when you are muddling.
    • Trying to reduce your sugar intake?  Leave out the sugar altogether and use sugar free ginger ale instead.
