An aromatic cocktail that’s perfect for sipping at brunch or all day long. This Cardamom Orange Blossom Martini features gin infused with cardamom, sweet vermouth, and orange juice for a spectacular earthy drink with a sweet finish.
Quick & Easy Cardamom Infused Gin
A gin martini is given a new twist with the addition of herby cardamom and orange juice for a drink that can be enjoyed any time of day.
Best yet, infusing your gin with cardamom only requires 10 minutes time and a little muddling. By using cardamom pods, the muddling process breaks apart the pods and releases the savory warm mint and peppery flavor into the gin. Then, the gin is strained for a flavorful infused alcohol that’s ready in no time!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Gin– The woodsy botanicals in gin lend themselves to this deeply flavorful cocktail.
- Cardamom Pods – Infusing gin with the pine and mint notes of cardamom adds a deliciously herbal flavor to this sweet drink. We recommend using green cardamom pods because of their subtle flavor.
- Vegan Sweet Vermouth – Sweet vermouth mellows the herbal flavors and adds hints of vanilla and fruit.
- Orange Juice – Orange juice brightens this drink up and keeps you coming back for more.
FAQ & Cardamom Orange Blossom Martini Tips:
-
Can ground cardamom be used in place of the green cardamom pods?
- Yes. However, then your drink will have a little bit of sediment in it. Another option is to rim the glass with ground cardamom which will provide all the flavor but still allow for a clear drink.
-
What if I don’t like gin?
- If you prefer to use another alcohol, we would suggest replacing the gin with vodka. This tasteless spirit lends itself to the infusion process.
-
Tip: Do Your Research for a Vegan Friendly Option.
- Unfortunately, most vermouth brands are not vegan friendly. However, through a little research we are happy to report that some brands are safe for vegans including Vya from Quady Winery and Tribuno, which can be found at Barnivore.com.
-
Tip: Layer Your Cocktail for a Unique Look.
- Due to the orange juice, if the drink is mixed it will be rather cloudy. Alternatively, we like to use the back of a spoon when adding the juice, which will produce a cocktail with a fun layered look since the orange juice will sink to the bottom.
-
Tip: Opt for Pulp-Free Orange Juice. 🍊
- For a traditional clear martini consistency, we recommend using pulp-free orange juice.
