Incredible, edible HUMMUS! Who doesn’t absolutely love hummus?! Not too many that I can think of! We are always looking for new variations on this staple and this Hot & Smokey Lentil Hummus is out of this world!
Lentils are a terrific source of protein. They are small but mighty. Thankfully they are also SO versatile- soups, pates, “meatballs”… I could go on and on. AND…. they are incredibly creamy when pulsed into a hummus!
The lentils give this Hot & Smokey Hummus a less dense and slightly a lighter consistency that traditional Chickpea hummus. It almost feels light and airy in your mouth.
But then you have the BIG FLAVOR of the chipotles and liquid smoke. The puréed lentils soak up all of the amazing spicy and smokey flavor. It only takes a tiny drop of the liquid smoke to add that deep robust smokey flavor- Yum!
I would also highly recommend cooking your lentils in an Instant Pot if you have one. It speeds up the process immensely! Lentils only take 2 minutes in an Instant Pot! You can learn more about this amazing kitchen utensil HERE.
However, if you don’t have one yet, they can also be made on the stovetop. We made them this way for picture purposes. The recipe will just take a little longer but still SO WORTH IT!
If you are looking for a new twist on traditional hummus, I highly recommend this Hot & Smokey Lentil Hummus. It will win over your senses with its intense smokiness and sharp chipotle bite. All-in-all, delicious and super healthy- a winning combo in our book! Enjoy!
