This vegan blue cheese dressing tastes remarkably like the real thing and it can easily be made at home in no time at all. Don’t spend an arm and a leg on store bought vegan dressing- there really is no reason not to whip up your own.

What You Will Need:

You only need 7 basic ingredients to make this vegan blue cheese dressing. Here is what you will need to make this versatile condiment.

Tofu – Silken tofu works best for this rich and creamy dressing. If you want to add small chunks into your dressing to mimic real blue cheese dressing, you can also add crumbles of extra firm tofu but it isn’t necessary.

Garlic – The clove of garlic provides needed zip and depth of flavor to your cheese.

Apple Cider Vinegar – This is the key ingredient in your dressing that simulates the tanginess of the fermented blue cheese.

Miso Paste Miso brings rich umami flavor and enhances the savory taste of this dressing. It also provides necessary salt with the added bonus of a more intense flavor profile.

Nutritional YeastThis is the key ingredient to make your “cheese” actually taste cheesy. Mmmmm…

Onion PowderThis addition brings a distinct pungent flavor along with a little sweetness.

Dill Weed – This herb adds brightness and a fresh aroma to your dressing. Additionally, it also mimics the color of mold which is found in real blue cheese. Yep, you may even be able to fool someone!

  • I made this recipe & while everyone really liked it on their salad, since I was trying to replicate the bleu cheese dressing I recently had at a vegan restaurant in Charlotte, NC., I was a tad disappointed. Theirs tasted better than any bleu cheese dressing I’ve ever eaten. While yours came close, it didn’t have the tang I was looking for. I’m going to play with it a bit to see if I can achieve my goal of replicating theirs! Thanks for sharing your recipes & I can wait to give some others on your site a try.

    • Hi Lina. Thank you so much for trying our recipe. We would suggest adding either more vinegar or adding a splash of lemon juice if you would like more tanginess. So glad that people liked it on salads we also use it for a dip. Thanks again.
